Why do companies allow boring meetings?

Why do companies allow boring meetings?

Why do companies allow boring meetings?

Do you know what the most hated four words are in any corporation? Time For The Meeting!

Why? Because almost all of them are BORING! And even the ones that are not boring are poorly run and usually tediously over their time limit.

Why do companies allow all of this? Part of your company culture is imbedded in those meetings. Slipshod work from almost every angle.

I know if you are reading this that you understand how much productivity is lost with poorly run meetings.

And I ask again, why? If this study were simply about your company what would it indicate. But this indicates that far too many businesses have no idea how a poorly run meeting can destroy company morale and undermine it’s success.

If you have boring people leading meetings people won’t get the message they are trying to convey. People’s minds will wander, attention destroyed. Maybe critical information not understood properly.

Stop Boring Meetings! What happens when meetings are not run properly?

·        poorly organized meetings mean I don't have enough time to do the rest of my work (44 percent);

·        unclear actions lead to confusion (43 percent);

·        bad organization results in a loss of focus on projects (38 percent);

·        irrelevant attendees slow progress (31 percent); and

·        inefficient processes weaken client/supplier relationships (26 percent).

This simply means your company has a huge problem and no one is held responsible to fix it. I have been training companies for 40 years and I remember working with one company on their meetings. They actually had to have a meeting to understand why I was being brought in to train them on their meeting etiquette. Most of their meetings ran 40% over their time limit, struggled with all of the things listed above. But they didn’t want to change. Are people in your company open to change? Try helping them learn to run meetings properly.

What will you do? Will you keep losing money and wasting resources? Will you struggle with bad culture because one area that needs immediate help us the meetings that are not producing?
