Why Disney Can Charge Double and Be Worth Every Penny

Why Disney Can Charge Double and Be Worth Every Penny

Yesterday I mentioned Disney vs 6 Flags and how Disney costs twice as much (or even more) but is wildly more popular and has people much happier to spend the cost of a small nations GDP versus competitors like 6 Flags.

Here’s a breakdown of the experiences

1. Disney's Magic vs. Six Flags' Thrills: Disney has made their immersive experience a science. You’re not just arriving at an amusement park; you’re entering another world. The characters, the stories, and the insane attention to detail are like stepping into a real-life fairy tale.

Six Flags is great for adrenaline junkies, but let’s face it, it’s just a bunch of rides plopped down next to each other. Plus, their mascot Mr. Six, the dancing old man…. enough said.

2. The Food: At Disney, food isn’t just food; it’s an experience. Want to eat breakfast with Mickey? Sure, it’ll cost you $55, but you get to hang out with Mickey while you eat. At Six Flags, you’re looking at a burger and fries, maybe an ice cream too. Disney’s got dining plans that practically force you to cash out your retirement fund but you don’t care…and who can resist a $12 Dole Whip?

3. Souvenirs: Disney’s merchandise is everywhere…and I mean everywhere. You can’t leave without grabbing a pair of Mickey ears or a limited-edition spirit jersey. It’s practically a rule. Six Flags has souvenirs too, but Disney’s got that special touch – like, a $30 t-shirt with Cinderella’s castle on it.

4. Extra Perks: Disney’s got these fancy things like Genie+ and Lightning Lane, where you pay extra to skip lines. It’s like the Fast Pass on steroids. Six Flags has something similar, but Disney’s version feels more magical. Plus, it’s another excuse to charge a bit more.

5. Top-Notch Entertainment: Ever seen a parade at Disney? Or their fireworks? They’re not just shows; they’re spectacles. Six Flags has some cool events, but Disney pulls out all the stops. It’s like comparing a local homeless shelter talent show to a West End production.

So Disney parks charge more because they give you more. More magic, more fun, and … more reasons to empty your wallet.

Because after all, you’re not just paying for rides at Disney, you’re paying for a little piece of the magic. And who can put a price on that?

Which we’ll discuss tonight for those of you attending the Profit and Dine Dinner on Differentiation and escaping the rut of competing on price.

P.S. I work with information-based service business owners who started the business to have a better life, only to find themselves falling short and then getting frustrated by the broken promises and lack of results when they sought help elsewhere.

That's when they find me and I show them exactly what path to take when investing their time and money in their business, so they can live the life they want.

We do it through 1;1 consultations, group master round tables and workshops and other collaborations whose insights are 100% tailored to them and which can easily be implemented.
