Why Discipline

Why Discipline

Discipline is a word that evokes various feelings and different meanings for each of us.

For some, it may be associated with punishment. For others, it might conjure ideas of forced regimen or structure.

In either case, your feelings and meanings are valid, though they may not serve your best interests at this point in life.

Let's play a quick game of pretend and open our minds and bodies up to possible new ways of processing that word and concept.

Discipline may also be viewed as discipleship, which means being a disciple, or a student, to something. It means doing something because it will bring you closer to what you want to create in your life.

An excellent place to begin is to ask yourself, what is my purpose?

Keeping in mind that purpose in this context is not just a goal or a single outcome. It's more like your mission.

Once you land on or decide your purpose (keep in mind that this can change, so don't get hung up on getting it perfect), write down the steps you need to take to make it a reality.

It is not always the significant actions or gestures that you do that truly matter; it's often the mundane and smaller things that you do every day that shape your life.
