Why digital era health-care-communication privacy is ethically important to consumers---and financially important to health-care service providers.

Please see below (scroll-to-bottom) helpful summary of why "Public Internet Ecosystem Communication Privacy" is so important. And how do we define "Public Internet Ecosystem?" Any website visit. Any social media post. Any Gmail, Yahoo mail, or AOL mail involving your health care service provider. Any clinical trial web-sign up. Any Android app. Our health care risk profiles are immediately being created and sold. Weaponized against us, and our service providers. Tens of billions of dollars are at stake here. Facebook/Cambridge-Analytica style. On steroids. Yes, this is true.

Some within the health care industry may be inclined to think this is "only" a consumer privacy issue. Its not. Its also a massive financial risk for health care service providers including hospitals, clinics, pharma companies, and device companies. Why? If (see below) the Pre-existing-conditions clause is eliminated, or modified down---far fewer consumers will enjoy the luxury of insurance covering most of their medical claims. This means less revenue for the multitude of health care service providers. And less revenue generally translates into dissatisfied shareholders, disgruntled board members, job cuts, reduced services, and a risk of lessened quality.

I hope health care service provider CFOs (and Boards) have the strategic foresight to connect the dots on this strategically important issue.  (See below summary article)

Here’s what the Congressional Budget Office said in its assessment of the American Health Care Act, which would have caused 23 million to lose coverage, and would have passed if John McCain hadn’t voted “No”:

“People who are less healthy (including those with pre-existing or newly acquired medical conditions) would ultimately be unable to purchase comprehensive nongroup health insurance at premiums comparable to those under current law, if they could purchase it at all.”
