Truthfully, this all began with a leap of faith.
Almost a year ago, at a coffee shop, in Aberdeenshire, we shared our desire to support driven, ambitious leaders who hold a strong desire to make a positive impact in the world.
At the time we didn’t realise we were sharing our desire to help people just like us.
At the end of a long conversation, a little voice in my head spoke to me...
“I wonder if Gillian would like to create something together?”
I decided to listen to my intuition and ask the question.
I took the leap.
Thankfully, she said YES!
We’d already known each other for several years and it was clear to me in that moment there was alignment between us.
Plus, I recognised within myself that I didn’t want to continue working on my own.
I wanted someone to share ideas with, to celebrate with, to share struggles with, to create something that would be truly impactful and take ownership of it together.
I’m grateful the universe delivered Gillian!
Fast forward to now.
We’ve created an amazing business partnership.
We’re powerfully serving an online community.
We’ve mapped out the future of our business, have absolute clarity about the way forward, certainty around who we want to serve and are driven by an enormous sense of purpose!
We KNOW we are on the right path and that feels AMAZING!!!
None of this would have happened if I’d chosen to ignore my intuition.
Your intuition is your superpower!
So, here are 7 ways you can practise harnessing that power...
1. Slow down and notice what you notice. If you know Alister Gray or Michele Armstrong from the amazing team at Mindful Talent you’ll be very familiar with this ??. It’s difficult to notice anything when you’re moving at 100mph and being busy doing all the time. So, make space in moments throughout your day, every day and ask yourself, what do I notice here, about my environment, my thoughts, how I feel, what the person in front of me is telling me and so on. This helps to raise yourself awareness and tap into your innate wisdom.
2. Be present. In order to practise self-awareness, you need to be present, in the moment. A regular meditation or conscious breathing practise will help you clear the space in your mind and remove distractions so you can hear your inner voice.
3. Remember what you love. Think about all of the things you LOVE. The things you love to do, eat, smell, hear. The people you love being with or the places you love visiting. Remember how they make you feel and why you appreciate them. Really feel it and notice the feeling expand. This will help you to connect with your feelings and get you out of your head.
4. Ask questions. Seek guidance through asking questions of yourself. If you have an important decision to make, ask, what would my 80 year old self tell me? Imagine what this older, wiser version of yourself would tell you to do. If you have a tendency to react adversely to things or people around you, ask yourself “what would love do?” Ask and you shall receive.
5. Create an imaginary advisory board. In the book, Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon Hill, he discusses the imaginary a council he created for himself. They could be anyone, dead or alive. He would find a quiet space, close his eyes and imagine being in a room with them, acknowledging every small detail to bring the experience to life and have full conversations with them. This practise, while a bit out there, gave him an immense amount of guidance.
6. Strike while the iron is hot. In order to use your intuition, you need to trust it. Acting on your intuition builds that trust. Like flexing a muscle, because the more you repeat an action, the better you become. Acting on it immediately gives you a better chance of taking action, because your energy to take the action is at its highest. This also builds your confidence and your ability to take further action, transforming this into an extraordinary habit.
7. Have fun. Play with your intuition. Start with small decisions, play guessing games and see what happens when you act on the answers you receive.
Heartfelt wishes,
David & Gillian
