Why did I start my own Stock Analysis Project?

As one of my favourite shows explains, 'A stock is like a living organism, a sparrow, say... And we are able to create an emergent-based abstraction of that sparrow which closely approximates the sparrow itself, accounting for; migration patterns, wind, weather, and other variables.
We can create a similar abstraction of a stock combining the information from the specific ETFs which represents it's underlying dependencies.
And if we apply this to the stock, we can predict it's delta following the path of it's abstracted self. Because nature follows abstraction.'
How to analyse a stock?
When analysing stocks, the first step is to understand the firm behind it. Learn about its main products or services, customers, advantages and opportunities. Know its competitors. The better you understand a company, the better you’ll be able to make sound investment decisions and stick through normal market corrections.
I decided to share my love and passion for the financial markets and combined it with my goal of helping students get their first industry related job in Australia.
So I created Fox Analytics by The Financial Fox, a program to help Business School Students become finance analysts. Throughout the program, we are going to help students get skills in Python, R, Infogram, Excel and VBA. Also, we are going to help them develop sound communication skills and teamwork abilities.
I’ve always loved stocks. I can’t think of a time I haven’t just enjoyed watching numbers go up and down. Trying to figure out why they do what they do has always been fascinating to me and now I want to share this passion with other students and help them reach their goals.
December Tasks Start!
This week, the main task for our students is to develop an infographic about their favourite stock, try to get a sense for the numbers presented and get some insights about the firm. The tool we are going to use is called Infogram, and the aim of the week: teach students to analyse difficult information and present it using a data visualisation in an way that is easy to understand. Below you can find my own. I will keep you updated with the development of the project and we are going to post the 3 best infographics next week!
