Why Democratically Smart World?

We were discussing about Architectural education system, when suddenly Akshay Anand asked us- “Is anyone interested in sending a paper to this conference?”. My curiosity always precedes my control over my body, and I said- “YES!”. I didn’t know how to write it, who is the publisher, how scientific research community works, or even what topic it was. But I always trust my instincts.

Who knew I would be writing my first research paper because of that. The conference was called- Future Smart Cities, by IEREK publisher to be held in Egypt. Egypt? I asked my instincts. How will we manage everything? Economically and otherwise? To tell you the truth, the deadlines were not that brutal, but I was already working 12-14hours per day.

I was working as an Assistant Professor from 9-6pm, and then went to manage my cafe till 11pm. (yes, had recently opened up a new cafe). So, it was hectic would be an understatement. But, I managed it. My first ever published paper, where I presented it in an International Conference- “Democratically Smart World- from neighbourhoods to the World”. What is even more interesting is the fact that I had quit my Masters and had started teaching. The masters program required me to study in Germany and Egypt. So, as it turns out the year I went to publish my first paper, my peers from the program were submitting their Thesis in Egypt!

Ah, the destiny. It has been 05 years since then, yet I’ve not abandoned my dream to create such a World. My mission has become to create a Democratically Smart World and my vision is to live in a World free of boundaries. Why you wonder? Well, as per my opinion and philosophy that is the only way to survive and eradicate all the problem of the World.

So, what does it even mean? Democratically Smart World is a World where Nature, Humans and Technology live symbiotically with each other. Where, every citizen’s say matters in the true sense Democratic. Not just for Governance or Laws, but for everything each vote matters in decision making process directly and not representatively.

To maintain a balance in the World, we require 3 major forces to be in sync. So far Nature and Humans are two major forces and we’ve all seen how that has worked out. Why do we need a Triad of Forces though? Well, when we’ve One Force then it become egoistic, and absolute power corrupts. When we’ve two forces, they’ll always enter into a relationship of Predator-Prey, where one force will try to tame the other. We’ve seen how Nature and Humans try to tame each other, and that always leads to more problems.

Enter another force which will help maintain the other two forces. This is not a new concept, rather we can trace back it’s similarity to the Hindu Mythology. In Hindu mythology there are 3 Gods, Brahma- the Creator; Vishnu- the Operator and Mahesh- the Destroyer. One Creates, another Destroys and the 3rd one maintains the balance. Similarly, Nature is the Creator, Humans are the Destroyers and hence we need a third force to Operate and maintain the balance, i.e. Technology. These three forces lays down one of the pillars for creating Democratically Smart World.

Another important pillar for the foundation is a Philosophy called- “All is One, One is All”. Now, in this paper I’ve not just taken Spiritual aspect of this philosophy, rather a Scientific one. Energy can neither be created, not be destroyed. It can only change from one form to another. Hence that is one thing which remains constant.

Those are the two fundamentals in creating a Democratically Smart World- Symbiotic Relationship between Nature, Humans and Technology; and All is One, One is All. To create such a World, within the paper I compare Citizen to a Cell; Neighbourhoods to Tissues; Cities to Organs; Countries to Organ Systems and World to an Organism.

Based on all the information the paper is structured in 3 major categories- Body of the Organism, Soul of the Organism and Brain of the Organism. Body is about Physiology- Geographical layer, Technological layer and Urban Infrastructure; Soul is about Psychology- Political layer, Economical layer and Rating System; Brain is about the Analytical Layer.

So, what is this Newsletter about? This newsletter is about creating this World, a World where my Vote literally counts, a World where I am a Global Citizen and not some Man Made “Country’s”, a World where poverty doesn’t exist, where Sharing economy is more important than Capitalism.

Stay tuned, as we explore this Utopian World and create it together as a community.
