Why decision-driven is the new data-driven

In SaaS and B2B, ‘AI-powered’ and ‘data-driven’ have invariably been the prefixes to all the world’s solutions.?

But the AI bubble in its current form is bursting, and the world is realizing that more data does not necessarily equal better outcomes.

The limitations of Gen AI have been exposed – not least by our own CEO Akeel Attar in his recent webinar for IET Manufacturing Technical Network – and now that AI models have effectively “used up the entire internet” and run out of data, their outputs have started declining.

Cue a new decision-powered era…

Gartner lists XpertRule as Decision Intelligence leader

Gartner’s latest Market Guide for Decision Intelligence Platforms, which lists XpertRule as a leader in the emerging DI market, shows that we are turning the data-driven paradigm on its head and ushering in a new era of decision-led business innovation.?

The reason for this is actually fairly simple: there’s more value in the decisions your best people make than there is in data and AI.

“Decision intelligence (DI) is not about driving decisions with data; it’s about deriving data from decisions to achieve better business outcomes”,? says the Gartner report.

Read Gartner analyst David Pidsley’s accompanying LinkedIn article to understand how XpertRule can model, orchestrate and audit decision-making to drive better outcomes for your business.

Is Artificial Intelligence dead in Pharma?

A legal liability, a waste of money, and AI-generated slides that look like “middle school presentations”: these are a few of the reasons a pharma CIO recently cited for axing an AI pilot with Microsoft.

The problem, as is often the case, wasn’t just the technology. The pharma company in question, which used Gen AI to create quick slide decks, apparently ignored the two fundamentals of successful AI integration: pinpointing the right use cases, and building an integrated AI framework for them to flourish within.?

While quick and easy content generation is useful, there are more fundamental use cases in the pharma industry that need solving. For example, our work with our partner Global Value Web is focused on improving data integrity and letting scientists focus on the science.

Prof Iain Crosley will be discussing all this and more alongside Global Value Web at PharmaTech Integrates on 19th September. Register today for your spot.

Net Zero is a numbers game

After a grand total of 28 COP conferences, it’s clear that the finger-wagging approach has failed to significantly reduce carbon emissions in industry.

Framing net zero as a growth and optimization opportunity is proving far more effective. XpertFactory is transforming manufacturing operations by making it easy to digitally capture, streamline and audit the decision-making process to drive greater overall efficiencies — and the result is that our customers are not just surpassing sustainability targets, but profitability goals, too.?

In the words of our manufacturing partner Booth Welsh, XpertFactory delivers “tangible results in efficiency, performance, mitigation, and waste reduction, while also delivering a positive impact on profitability”.

Join us at Sustainable Industry Live on Wednesday 6th November to explore more transformational sustainability use cases in manufacturing.

Insurance is flush with data. But is it driving better decisions?

Insurance has always been a data-centric business. Understanding and pricing for risk relies heavily on the numbers.??

But poor data quality, tired technology and a lack of integration between data and decision-making mean that all those numbers aren’t necessarily adding up to better outcomes.?

“You can impress people with numbers until your heart’s content but if it’s not useful and it doesn’t help them make better decisions in their business, then you’ve failed,” said Broker Insights chair Chris van der Kuyl in Insurance Business Mag.

The “last mile”, as Gartner’s David Pidsley called it in his recent LinkedIn post, is using Decision Intelligence to bridge the gap between the near-endless data at insurers’ disposal, and the decisions that actually matter.?

Take a look at our insurance use cases in case handling and claims fraud triaging for examples in connecting data to improved outcomes with Decision Intelligence.? Find out more about Decision Intelligence HERE.
