Why DBE is Important For Minorities

I have previously talked about the importance of DBE for women, but what is the importance of it for minority? Today I will be explaining the importance of a DBE certification for minorities.

What is a DBE certification?

DBEs are for-profit small business concerns where socially and economically disadvantaged individuals own at least a 51% interest and also control management and daily business operations. To be regarded as economically disadvantaged, an individual must have a personal net worth that does not exceed $1.32 million.?They work in transportation in their state or in another state.

What is its importance?

The Department's Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program is designed to remedy ongoing discrimination and the continuing effects of past discrimination in federally-assisted highway, transit, airport, and highway safety financial assistance transportation contracting markets nationwide.

Why should you get Certified?

The primary remedial goal and objective of the DBE program is to level the playing field by providing small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals a fair opportunity to compete for federally funded transportation contracts.
