Why #CyberCivilDefense Nonprofits Need Policy Training

Why #CyberCivilDefense Nonprofits Need Policy Training

Our #cybercivildefense community has done a great job supporting cybersecurity professionals who want to go into public service.?

This seriously helps protect the country.

We have great programs – like TechCongress – that place people into government roles, where they provide serious knowledge support regarding tech matters.

We have smart help like the Partnership for Public Service, which provides leadership training to government servants.

But #cybersecurity and other tech nonprofits need more support in learning how to successfully advocate for policy change to improve real national security.

We need newer voices – especially voices from diverse backgrounds, and with strong cybersecurity expertise – to join the policy conversation. Many nonprofits with great technical expertise don't currently have the training to effectively participate in policy conversations.

This is why I'm supporting the Aspen Tech Policy Hub’s new Nonprofit and Public Interest Policy Fellowship. The Hub will provide representatives from nonprofits training on how to engage in public policy, from developing policy projects to writing public comments.?

Participating in the program is free: nonprofits will get paid a $6,000 stipend to participate.

I hope my grantees and other members of the cybersecurity and tech nonprofit communities will apply to the Hub Policy Fellowship. Applications are due April 18.

We all win if more #cybercivildefense voices participate in the policy process.?

The fastest means of creating security is to stop the advancement of insecurity in our educational systems. Quit measuring for obedience and compliance, measure for how to think v what to think, that which is being dictated by the authorities. When you take a child’s freedom, you rob the child’s interest in themselves, thus what would have been a child who can call their own plays in life v becoming an adult afraid of their own thoughts. To the degree that our educational system is robbing one’s self interest, we are robbing the country of brilliant ideas.

Insolvent governments largest threats are the creditors. Excellent distraction & potential seizure of assets leased out foolishly to ‘the cloud.’
