Why Creativity Needs Freedom, Not Formulas!

Why Creativity Needs Freedom, Not Formulas!

the other day at my uncle's place? My little cousin, was asking me the same question again (like, for the fifth time!). He's super serious about this, wanting to know my secret for being both productive and creative. He kept asking for things like the best video course ever, the ultimate path to becoming a "creator," and the coolest productivity tool out there. But guess what? There's no one answer, no magic formula!

Truth is, I've never even thought about those things in all my years of doing this. I don't have a fancy design degree, never bought any special course, and yet I've still managed to reach my goals.

The problem is that, if we attempt something new or fails to design a creative, we automatically search for patterns or simple answers, such as 1+1 = 2, in the world around us. This is because, in any uncertain situation, our minds try to find a logical solution, and our ancestors gave us this mindset, which is known as "the fear of the unknown," because, in order to survive in the jungle, one must always look for patterns and paths to avoid predators. Unfortunately, nearly everything is unknown, if our profession depends on our creativity.

After reading all of my brother's questions, you should be able to identify to his fear of the unknown and his search for a pattern that will help him escape this situation:

  • What is the most powerful graphic design tool?
  • Which video editing course is the best?
  • How do I develop my creativity?
  • Which books are best?if you want to work in creative fields?

The answer is...

Wait wait, the picture is incomplete. I hear the word "productivity" a lot from others around me.

Put simply, to be productive, list all the things you want to get done in a day, place those things in a set of rules, then start following to those rules at all costs. Which is great for business and the corporate ladder, but imagine if Spanish painter Pablo Picasso began considering how much painting he should plan to do each week or which color strokes, based on data, would work best for his paintings. Do you believe he could have created all those works of art? (I'll let you answer this question.)

Being creative is all about coming up with new and fresh ideas, right? So, if you're trying to make things super complicated just to feel safe by using words like Productivity or if you're copying someone else's success plan, isn't that kind of going against the whole idea of being creative?

Think about it like this:

Imagine you're looking at a famous artist's work. They might seem like they're doing something super complex, but if you take a closer look, you'll see that they're actually keeping things pretty simple. They just have a really deep understanding of what they're doing. So, instead of trying to overthink things or copy someone else, the key is to really understand what you're passionate about and dig deep into that. That's where the true magic happens!

The problem with our generation is that we often want everything figured out before we start, we don't try to make things easier on ourselves. We forget that most work is actually simple, and we imagine it to be much harder than it is. This fear of the unknown holds us back.

Thinking that asking a bunch of questions or watching "lifehack" videos will make things easier and faster...is a mistake. It only creates more things to worry about.

The real problem isn't the information available, it's our mindset. If I knew all the challenges I'd face when I started, I might not have even begun. Creativity is a lifelong journey...That's it!

Here's a simple trick: accept that some things will always be uncertain, that's just how life is. When it comes to creativity, being yourself is the most important thing.

We all need guidance, basic questions like "What is Art?" or "how to be an artist?" A mentor can answer those, but the actual creative process is completely up to you. Every successful creative person learned from someone but created their own unique path and "Something Different." This "Something Different" is their own personal style, what helps them overcome the fear of the unknown, achieve true creative success.

Imagine everyone copying each other's ways to deal with problems, and putting all kinds of creative stuff, like drawing, movies, and music, in the same category as working hard. It would be a mess! But hey, look around! We're surrounded by amazing artists and beautiful creations, so there's still plenty of room for both.

Now, back to your question, little bro... the answer is...

(drumroll please)

Just wait a Little More ??
