In accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for levels A1-C2, there are four main language skills that students must learn.

These skills include reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Listening is the ability to understand spoken language, and speaking is the ability to express oneself orally.

Writing: At level A1, students are able to write simple messages and fill out forms with familiar words and phrases. At level A2, they can write short emails, letters, and diary entries on everyday topics.

At level B1, they are able to write structured texts about familiar topics in a clear and logical way. At level B2, they can write detailed texts on various topics with precision and accuracy.

At level C1, they can write clear and effective texts for professional purposes. At level C2, they can write fluently on any subject in an expressive and elegant manner.

The functions of language at different levels and why it is important to know.?

Finally, they should be able to express likes and dislikes and make simple requests. For example: "I like pizza.", "I don't like broccoli.", "Can I have a glass of water please?"

The functions of language at the level A2?

At the A2 level, learners are expected to be able to understand simple instructions and questions, as well as respond appropriately. They should also be able to give a brief description of an event and answer basic questions about it.?

Examples of the functions of language for the A2 level include:?

  • Understanding simple explanations or descriptions?
  • Giving detailed directions or instructions?
  • Making simple comparisons?

Some examples of language functions that can be seen in B1 include:

  • Expressing opinions – “I think that...”, “In my opinion...”?
  • Making requests – “Can you help me?”?
  • Asking for and giving advice – “What should I do?”, “You should try...”?
  • Describing problems – “I have a problem with...”?
  • Agreeing and disagreeing – “I agree...”, “I don’t think so.”?
  • Interrupting politely – “Excuse me...”
  • Apologizing – “I’m sorry for...”
  • Giving reasons and explaining – “The reason is because...”?
  • Comparing and contrasting – “This is different from that...”?
  • Suggesting solutions – “Why don’t we...?”

The functions of language at the level B2?

At the B2 level, language learners should be able to understand and use English with a certain degree of fluency and accuracy. They should be able to use the language for social and professional purposes, including giving opinions and expressing feelings.

They should be able to handle complex tasks related to their profession, as well as complex academic texts.?

Some examples of functions at the B2 level include:?

  • Giving and explaining opinions on a wide range of topics

The functions of language at the level C2?

At level C2, learners are expected to have a full command of the language, with the ability to effectively use language in a wide range of situations. In terms of functions of language, this includes being able to understand and express opinions on abstract topics, as well as expressing feelings and attitudes.

This level also requires advanced usage of discourse markers and connectives, as well as proficiency in multiple forms of writing such as essays, reports, and other longer texts.?
