The coaching industry has reached a tipping point, bloated with ‘’same old same old ‘’ programs that are all fur coats and no knickers, regurgitated advice, and "containers" that leave most participants swimming in the sea of sameness. The rise of blueprints has done more to stifle creativity and sovereignty than to foster true growth. For coaches and consultants looking to scale to $250K and beyond, there’s a hard truth to swallow: broad-stroke advice isn’t just ineffective—it’s out of integrity.
The Death of the Hero’s Journey
Let’s face it—the Hero’s Journey narrative, once revered, is now as outdated as a high-wheeled bicycle. The predictable arc of “I was lost, then found, and now you can pay me to save you” feels like an echo chamber. It’s a narrative that trades depth for drama and originality for relatability. While it might sell a $27 digital download, it won’t get you to the elite space of a $250K+ business that screams originality and undeniable value.
Blueprints: The Kiss of Death
Blueprints are seductive because they promise ease and predictability. But let’s be honest—how many of those who buy into a “proven system” end up building a business that feels congruent with who they are? I’d wager fewer than you think. Blueprints assume that every coach is cut from the same cloth, and that one-size-fits-all solutions can deliver exponential results. Spoiler alert: they can’t.
The reality is, scaling to $250K and beyond requires precision, customization, and disruption. It requires not just doing things differently, but being willing to burn down the old playbook entirely. My clients succeed not because they follow a guru’s “5 Steps to Success” but because they dare to zig when everyone else is zagging.
Bespoke Is Better Built
Here’s the truth: regurgitated frameworks don’t create Category of One businesses. They create bland brand businesses that bore the shit out of the market.. And the fastest way to blend in rather than stand out is to try to apply broad advice to a deeply personal business.
When I work with clients, it’s not about stuffing them into a mold—it’s about extracting their unique value proposition (UVP) and turning it into their personal goldmine. We sit down for two fully focused, noise-cutting hours, laser-focused on their UVP, guided by my mantra: “Congruence is currency.”
What does that look like? It means positioning them with such precision that their brand becomes undeniable. They no longer compete on price or popularity but instead rise above their industry, immune to competition.
