Why a company is only as good as its people.

Why a company is only as good as its people.

On a recent business trip to Rio meeting with our Occlutech Latin American distributors, one of our long-term partners in Brazil, Fran?ois Nigro , said something that profoundly resonated with me:

"If you work with great people, keep them close.”

This sentiment really touched me and got me thinking just how critical good people are to any business’s long-term success.

You simply can’t underestimate how important it is to maintain good and truthful relationships with your team members, your customers, your partners, and your stakeholders. ?

Why? Relationships are the bedrock for:

Growth opportunities and connections

Building meaningful connections with exceptional individuals, both within and outside your organization, can open doors to new opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations that can take you to amazing places you’d never dreamed your business would go.

Driving collaboration, creativity, and innovation

The success of any company hinges on its ability to innovate and focus forward. The relationships formed within your company can have a huge impact on your capacity for collaboration and creativity. When you work closely with great people, you create an environment where diverse perspectives come together, ideas are shared, and solutions are founded. These collaborations can lead to breakthrough innovations that propel your company ahead of the competition.

Nurture employee loyalty

Employees are the beating heart of any organization, and their engagement and loyalty are pivotal to sustained success. When you keep great team members close, you foster a sense of belonging and purpose that goes beyond mere job roles. This sense of purpose (which when surveyed, our employees at Occlutech feel incredibly strongly about) motivates people to invest their time, energy, and dedication on a united goal.

Fueling customer relationships

Strong relationships don't just extend within the organization; they also extend outward. Great people form the foundation of exceptional customer experiences. When your team members feel empowered and engaged, they are more likely to provide stellar experiences that resonate with your customers. These positive interactions build customer loyalty, creating a ripple effect that enhances your company's reputation and bottom line.

Driving continuous optimization

Successful companies are never stagnant; they are constantly striving for improvement. Great people inspire each other to set new standards, challenge the status quo, and seek continuous optimizations in all aspects of their work, and effectively to the company itself.

So, I urge you to embrace the sentiment, "If you work with great people, keep them close" - because it's the relationships you build and nurture that have the power to shape the trajectory of your business's long-term success. Plus, I guarantee you’ll have wonderful experiences along the way!

I could not agree more! A strong leader I had shared a quote with me from John Maxwell that has been a guide throughout my career. "Leadership is NOT about titles, positions or flowcharts. It's about one life influencing another." We take care of our people and they will take care of the business.

So true! Solely good people does not necessarly have competence and appropriate abilities and vice versa. Good people also act preferrably in social complex environments as you well describe!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about that conversation we had during the SOLACI meeting in Rio. One of the problems of our organizations is employee rotation! Usually it takes about one year to get someone fully trained so you have to keep the good ones close. They can make the difference!

Well said! What distinguishes successful organisations from the rest of the pact is the ability to drive a culture of trust and respect between all individuals involved. Relationships that are based on integrity, honesty and true values will prove to be long-lasting and will lead to higher retention rates, increased productivity and will differentiate the organisation from its competitors.
