Why Companies Post Fake Jobs Part One / / / / / / Why These Are The Interviews You Get Ghosted From / / / How To Stop Bleeding Time BC it's $$$

When I think about what the VIBE of HR is it's the movie Heathers.

From retribution to nastiness to sheer jealousy they have all the themes covered. If you're thinking they're here for you - they're not. They're there for the company or corporation.

You're just in the middle of what they want to do - it's called Succession Planning. More on that next week.

Companies Post Fake Jobs.

By Lauren McDonald

WHY DO THEY DO THIS?

Everyone asks me the same question and I work with folks who are north of $225K and it demonstrates that everyone is confused.

Because NO ONE WILL STOP THEM.

A board of directors isn't going to get involved with HR. They won't touch it.

This topic won't get to the Board because everyone will protect the CEO from hearing about it.

People are scared of HR. Petrified. Because they're just like the Heathers and they can do a lot of damage to your career. They play chess with your career.

If company has an agreement with a job posting site and they have OPEN JOBS and they aren't using them HR will use those spots to "build a pipeline."

The reason you should be concerned is the interview you're about to go on - it has nothing to do with you landing the role - it has to do with wasting time and looking busy.

Right now - hiring is slowing down but are the posts you see?

You must proceed with caution and DO NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH A ROLE because there's a chance it's not going anywhere soon.

Are you going to get SO upset that you will call the CEO to complain when you get ghosted? I don't think you should AS TEMPTING as it sounds and looks to you.

What if you're currently employed? What would hold that HR Manager back from contacting the HR manager at your current firm to share what you did to them and warn them you're a flight risk or pretend to do reference checks WHEN YOU ARE AT YOUR CURRENT COMPANY (think it hasn't happened it happens all the time).

You're not going to go to the Board of Directors to complain because they will treat you like you're insane - they will act like you're a Karen (sorry to my Karen friends out there!) who has lost their mind and HR will share OMG BOB we dodged a bullet I told you there was something wrong with her.

What you need to realize is this is a game. You need to know how to play it. You need to know how to defensively drive through these mindfields.

The truth is HR can TOTALLY post whatever they want any salary and change it in 2 minutes. They can post something to see what type of a reaction they get and if COCA COLA is posting a ton of jobs - do YOU REALLY THINK PEPSI won't POST jobs to look busy?

I have over 50 reasons I could write about (I'll share those for next week for you) but the truth is that CEOs are similar to the mob.

It's their rules or you don't work there.

They work you over like a made men and then when you're done - well you're sleeping with the fishes or you just go out to pasture.

What I think is strange is that people don't realize there are options to avoid this - I'm it. I'm the option and I know that is why I do well.

Two decades+ experiencing this and navigating fake jobs and dealing with HR's shenanigans have led me to this point.

Proceed with caution. Make sure you're using your time wisely and when they pump and dump you after an interview - make sure you gave them NOTHING during that interview that was IP related or of value.

They don't deserve you.

Remember this always and be prepared for everything.

Slide into my PM's. Be action oriented instead of staring at this like a zombie. :)

Oh and go back and check your PM's in a few days.

Don't complain about HR and then ghost. If you do - don't complain about their behavior. :)

I see this when companies push you to refer people with a bonus attached. They don't want to pay out a finder bonus.

Thanks Lauren McDonald! I don't know what we'd do without you. You are honest and you know exactly why things are the way they are...
