Why are companies finding it difficult to hire people?

Before I start, I would like to begin by stating that my blogs had dried because I was working on a project. By the grace of God, it is now over, and the legal procedure has begun. It will still take sometime before it is made available to you. This will require less action from me, so my blogs will now surface again.
Being active on LinkedIn, I have been seeing that a lot of recruiters are posting jobs and trying to fill the gap through the mass available on this social platform. There are very few who are looking to fill their position with talent. Many are using this platform because other avenues have failed. The situation has reached a level where along with recruiters; people at leadership positions also post vacancies.
Why is this draught of people? Is there an aspect that is not being considered? Let’s take an example.
Ravi is a very hard-working person and given the salary, he is working to the best of his ability. He has successfully given robust sales to the company. When the company wanted more out of him, he put the extra effort to get it delivered. The company wanted more, and after many successes, Ravi reached his limit. He could not perform as required. The people who once appreciated him now wanted him out. Undue pressure was put on him, and people started getting harsh on him. The owners whose money is invested, get angered with the very sight of Ravi and show an outburst of anger. Poor Ravi is humiliated, and then in the most disgraceful way is showed the pink slip.
The company now wants a replacement, they get a better person than Ravi. He propels the business further but reaches a roadblock. After he had done his part, he could not deliver as required. He also had to face the wrath of the bosses and owners. In a snip, he was asked to go. The exit was not cordial, and the settlement did not happen.
Then comes the next person. Initially, he performs but once growth strategies he implemented yielded to its potential; he was not left with anymore to increase volumes. The fate was inevitable. His exit became even more complicated, with the company asking that his settlement will not happen till he does not complete the full and final document. The relation ends with bitterness.
A few more years pass by. People come and people go. The company gets its growth, the owners and the top people don’t care about the relationship. The employee, employer relation, not ending amicably became a track record of the company. Then, a stage comes when, even after trying so much, they are unable to get people working for them. Social networking acts as a catalyst in making the process more difficult.
HR is unable to do anything; the job portal is of no help. Now they look for small-time agencies. These new recruitment agencies also cannot get people, because the market knows how the organization is going to behave. The task is then assigned to the person in charge, he gains some success with the help of his networking but reaches the dead-end soon.
Why does it happen? Why has recruitment become so difficult?
No change will have any impact unless you don’t change your behavior. People only like to work in a place where they are respected, it is a basic unstated need. Those who think that the outgoing employee is no more needed and can be disposed of, are making a gross mistake. These people are brand ambassadors of your company, if you don’t make them leave in peace, they will speak ill for you and you may never find people.
People will have nothing left, once they have given all their learnings. Therefore, it is the task of the company to fill employees with new learnings. You have to train people; you have to retain them and you have to make the exit a memory. The irony is that while the welcome is grand, the exit is unimpressive.

5 年Thanks for sharing. This is the exact situation in most of the industries today. Here I would like to add that most the small cap companies are following these kind of practices oftenly and spoiling the culture because they dont have any recruitment/training/ rewarding budget.
