Why China Will Change Your Life

1. Your world and the change you can make in it will explode in its scope
1.4 billion people work here every day! (yes, every day, including Sunday at 4 in the morning - digging up the street in front of my flat) This is just one example exhibiting the drive behind one of the worlds strongest economic players.
2. Your truths will be presented with (working) alternatives - whether you like them or not, they are preparing to compete with yours.
More and more players are competing and cooperating every day– China being one of the most powerful. Europe, my home, unite or your role in this very exciting game will diminish.
3. In cities with more inhabitants, than the state I am from, your perspective is bound to be broadened.
Chinese, Mexicans, Somalis, … you name it. Their stories and perspectives will blow your mind - your goals and plans will need revisal. Most importantly, you will win amazing friends :DD
4. How has my life changed?
Pre China, my next steps were clear. However, China has given me the perspective and confidence to pivot – I will combine the strengths of Asia and Europe and the perspectives of engineering and business in my next degree. I am going back to Asia. Will you go as well?
To put the above into scope, the figure below from Iman Ghosh at Visual Capitalist is very helpful.

5 年Love the picture at the end of your article! When taking a cab I often ask the taxi driver if they've ever been abroad. In most cases the answer is "no, only travelled in China" and I completely understand why! China is so huge and has more than 50 different minorities with different food, trad. dresses, festivals etc. There's just so many diverse places to explore ????
