Why ChatGPT will not replace Google

Why ChatGPT will not replace Google

Will ChatGPT replace Google? It is a question many people are asking themselves since ChatGPT received massive popularity and positive response after it's initial introduction to the public. Let's see what all the fuzz is about!

What is ChatGPT?

ChatGPT in it's essence is an OpenAI-developed large language model chatbot. It has an amazing ability to interact in the form of a conversational dialogue and provide responses that can appear surprisingly human.

The task of predicting the next word in a series of words is performed by large language models.

Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) is an additional layer of training that uses human feedback to help ChatGPT learn to follow directions and generate human-satisfactory responses.

In short: it is a brand new tool with a lot of useful applications!

What are some cool applications for ChatGPT?

ChatGPT has a lot of applications, for those of us that are not in the developer and programming world, ChatGPT can also be useful to us! Let me show you a few examples of how ChatGPT can make digital marketing easier:

1) Generate ideas

ChatGPT can literally help you conceptualize ideas for novels, poems, plays, video titles, and so on.

2) Putting these ideas into action

You can direct ChatGPT to write out examples of the ideas it has generated for you, or you can provide a title and direct it to come up with something that sounds legitimate. Naturally, there are some limitations, as ChatGPT cannot generate certain types of content, but it does provide an excellent starting point in many cases.

3) Text summarization

ChatGPT can help you distill the main points of texts you write yourself or things you see on the internet. Simply copy and paste the text you want to summarize into the prompt with the format: "Summarize "(text)" into fewer than (word limit) words" and it will do exactly that.

Definitely a handy tool for the students among us!

4) Conducting research (and providing references!)

ChatGPT can teach you a variety of things, including concepts, ideas, and how to put them into action. If you ask it the right questions, it can even provide you with citations to help you improve your knowledge.

How do I use ChatGPT?

ChatGPT can be used in a variety of ways, depending on your specific needs and the resources you have available. Now, let's look at the applications of this tool in a more advanced setting:

  • One option is to use the pre-trained model provided by OpenAI via their API. You can use the API to generate text and fine-tune the model to your specific requirements.
  • Another option is to use your dataset and application to optimize the pre-trained model. This can be accomplished with a framework such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • You can also use a pre-trained version of the model that has been improved and made public.

In all of the preceding cases, you will require the assistance of a developer for model integration and optimization.

Will ChatGPT replace Google?

It's unlikely that ChatGPT or any other single technology will completely replace Google. Despite the fact that ChatGPT is a powerful language model that can generate human-like text, Google offers a wide range of services other than language processing, such as search, email, and cloud storage.

Furthermore, ChatGPT is primarily a tool for developers to use in their apps, whereas Google's services are integrated and optimized for a wide range of applications. ChatGPT and other similar technologies, on the other hand, may be incorporated into or used to enhance various Google services.

But will ChatGPT replace Google Search?

ChatGPT will not be able to replace Google search any time soon. This is not because ChatGPT cannot connect to the internet or lacks up-to-date information.

It will not replace Google because it is not the same as Google. They are two completely different tools designed to do completely different things.

The goal of ChatGPT is to:

  • Make sense of textual information — in terms of both data and speaker intention

Google search's goal is to provide information based on keyword inputs:

  • It does not generate any data on its own
  • Provide results based on ever-growing web content in near-real-time inputs
