Why is Chandrayaan 3 more than a scientific milestone?

The safe soft landing of Vikram lander over the near south pole region on our lunar neighbor boosted India's reputation as a leading spacefaring nation. Here are the points that make this mission special

  1. With this India has become the 4th nation to land on moon after US, Russia and China. Many countries have tried to land on the moon's equatorial region but never on the little unexplored south pole.
  2. The soft land is similar to that of a feather falling. Finding an even surface to land on the south pole is a challenge as it harbors numerous craters, boulders and uneven surfaces in addition to perpetual darkness.
  3. The budget for this mission is just under 615 crores or $75 million.
  4. The payloads RAMBHA (Radio Anatomy of Moon Bound Hypersensitive ionosphere and Atmosphere) and ILSA (Instrument for Lunar Sesimic Activity) will measure moon's atmosphere, geology, and potential for water ice.

With the success of Chandrayaan 3 on the lunar surface, we stand together, united in our Indian identity and the boundless possibilities that lie ahead. This mission is not just a scientific landmark but also a testament to our steadfast commitment to unlocking the secrets of the universe and forging a brighter tomorrow.
