Why can't you name a worksheet as 'History' in Excel?
Whenever you try to name a worksheet as History, Excel will return a warning message that ‘History is a reserved name’.
History is a reserved name for the sheet meant for 'tracking changes between shared workbooks'.
Now, if you want to see this sheet called History, Press ALT + T + T + H
A dialog called Highlight Changes will be activated.
Mark the check box against ‘Track changes while editing’ and click OK.
Now, make some changes in the workbook > Save the workbook and Press ALT + T + T + H
Mark the check box against ‘List changes on a new worksheet’ and click OK
You will have a worksheet called History with the list of changes made in the workbook.

4 年It is so that History is a reserved name . When you want to see the changes in your document excel opens an automatic tab where you can see all the changes that you have made in this worksheet and form thaere you can tabulate the data entry history.

4 年The word HISTORY is one of those reserved words in Excel Cache; there are some others too, especially when naming a Table or range

4 年For French users, no problem to name a tab HISTORY, do not understand how you can use the ALT + T + T + H (2 times T)??

4 年Interesting. I have been using Excel to keep track of changes to all my structural model (ETABS) and calling it M O D E L D E V E L O P M E N T H I S T O R Y. I had no problems. I add the spaces so the file name is prominent in the file explorer.
