Why can't we find true joy in this world?

Answer: Because it is the nature of our personal ego-self that is the barrier to finding true joy in this world. The nature of our ego-self is to preserve, protect, and perpetuate itself and it is the false belief that the ego-self has a life of its own that is the barrier to finding true joy or happiness. There is only one life and that Life is the Life of God. But the ego-self has separated itself from this infinite Source of good and as a result it is like a branch cut off from a tree. The branch withers. We reap unhappiness. And so it is that in order to find true joy we must stop thinking about our personal ego-self and think about God instead. Why?
Because "in the Presence of God is fullness of joy, Life". Because when we "dwell in the secret place of the most high, goodness and joy will follow". Because it is there in My Kingdom that we are conscious of that infinite Something that gives us the freedom from the discords of this world. Because the absence of God in our life is the problem and the presence of God in our life is the answer, the remedy. Because when we stop thinking about our ego-self, it ceases to function. Because "except God build the house, they labor in vain who build it".
In other words, our human way of thinking cannot achieve true joy in this world, but our spiritual way of thinking can because it is there that we realize the oneness of God and that because of that oneness there is nothing to hinder the joy and happiness we experience when we are free to live in the harmony of God's being.
