Why can't they just do it right the first time?!

Why can't they just do it right the first time?! I know I have thought this many times while running my own business, having the processes in your businesses followed by all sounds too good to be true and it is possible.

When you first start a business and it's just you, or you and a couple of staff members, you can control everything that happens in your business, making sure processes are completed the way you want it, when you want it, it’s amazing!

As we all know, as you grow, this becomes harder and harder to control.

Sharing information, especially processes, becomes more and more complex as the lines of communications multiply as your team grows. When that 3 becomes 10 and those 10 people grows to 20, you become disconnected from different functions of your business. Meaning there is less chance of processes that are critical to the running of your business being completed correctly. This disconnection and lack of clarity around your processes can lead to frustration for you and your team.

It seems like a simple idea, get all the important processes for our business documented, train your team to do them the right and best way each time, and move on to bigger and better things in your business.

Unfortunately, a lot of growing businesses owners tend to ignore this because it is either too hard or they put it on the "back burner" for when they have more capacity to document their processes. How’s that capacity going for you?

All the while the lack of documented processes and staff training, means you or your leaders are spending more time having to redo work that has been completed incorrectly, which leaves you frustrated with your people for not "getting" exactly what you meant when you told them about that new process a month ago, and it all leads to a lack of accountability with your team, because deep down you know that the processes just aren’t defined or documented correctly, so how can you hold them accountable?

Through my experience with EOS, what I have found is that each business has a handful of core processes, the sooner you identify these, get them documented, train your team, and put in mechanism in place to track that these processes are completed correctly, the sooner your life becomes easier, your business becomes easier to manage and you find that capacity back in your days to not just work in your business but on your business.

With EOS, we love introducing people to the The 3-Step Process Documenter?, you can download a handy PDF about it here, it will walk you through the simple steps you can put in place to fix your process problems.

We like to ?focus on keeping it simple because we know that most leaders tend to complicate documenting processes, which is often the reason it never gets started. Check out The 3-Step Process Documenter? to find out more about how you can get your core processed documented and make sure they are followed by all!
