Why The CAC Queried My Company Registration?

The approval or denial of a company name is at the discretion of the CAC. That a name is approved does not necessarily mean an automatic pass to registration. In an instance where the CAC discovers or believes that a newly approved name is similar to an existing one, they may query the registration and ask that the name be substituted.

For instance, the CAC withholds the right to deny the registration of?"NTN Communications Limited"?even though they may have approved the name before realising its similarity with?"MTN Communications". Why? because it can be mistaken as the same company if one is not careful.

?So, if your approved name for registration is?WXYZ INVESTMENT LTD?and there is an existing name called?XYZ INVEST CO. LTD, then CAC reserves the right to query your registration.

However, my recommendation for you will be to do a name substitution and add words to the new name so it is well distinguished from the existing one.
