Why Businesses Need Marketing

If your business is not getting enough clients, not selling enough products or not making enough money, it probably means you’re not doing enough marketing.?Your company’s marketing campaign should commence at the time your business launches and should continue for as long as your business is in operation.?Anyone who thinks otherwise has completely missed the boat.?The minute you stop marketing is when you’ve given your competitors the opportunity to railroad their way right over you.
For some reason, marketing has become the redheaded stepchild of the business world.?It amazes me how many companies think they can sustain business without implementing some kind of marketing plan.?Sure, word-of-mouth and referrals can do wonders for bringing in business.?However, many companies who rely solely on referrals have no idea how much more business they’re missing out on by not making their presence known through marketing.
Some companies don’t do marketing because they can’t find a way to fit it into their budget.?Unfortunately, there’s a catch 22 when it comes to marketing.?When a company can’t afford marketing, it’s usually because they’re not doing any marketing.?Despite what you might think, marketing is not an expense; it’s an investment that generates revenue.?In fact, most companies with an effective marketing strategy see between a 5:1 to 10:1 ROI ratio.?In other words, for every dollar they spend on marketing, they’re getting 5-10 times that amount in sales.
Another common problem many companies have is that they don’t know enough about marketing or how to do it.?A company may be experts in their core business, but marketing is a completely separate function.?Some companies run a small PPC campaign and think they have their marketing wrapped up.?However, multichannel marketing is what’s necessary in most circumstances.?Multichannel marketing includes marketing efforts on multiple platforms, such as search engines, social media, magazine/radio ads, billboards, articles, blogs, emails, press releases, videos, etc.?The reason why multichannel marketing is important is because your competitors have most likely taken a multichannel approach. Your information needs to be everywhere because you never really know where your target audience is looking.

When analyzing the progress of many companies, the outcomes are very simple.?The ones that are crushing it all have marketing campaigns.?The ones that are hurting don’t.?If marketing is not your forte, outsource it to a company that specializes in marketing.?If they are good at what they do, they will help you to generate far more revenue in sales than they’re charging you for their service.
