Why is building your Professional Brand so important!

There is no doubt that we are living and working in interesting times! Who would have thought when we entered this new decade that the entire world would shut down and we'd be fighting over toilet paper?
Now, many will be fighting over jobs and career opportunities. We are going to have the biggest pool of talent and fewer jobs and opportunities available. Those who have been building their professional brand and reputation consistently will be more inclined to be tapped on the shoulder for board roles, investment opportunities or executive positions.
I know many are waiting for things to go back to the way they were but the reality is, most things won't, this is the new normal and it will be business as "unusual" from here on in.
It wasn’t that long ago that “professional branding” wasn’t even on the radar in terms of business success and career progression. Professionals are really understanding the importance of ‘brand you’ and the role it plays in positioning you both personally and professionally. COVID has caused some to pivot and prosper while others have lost opportunities and their jobs.
My personal branding work is the most rewarding part of my role. Why? Because I get to witness first-hand the amazing flow on effect after my clients have spent time establishing their brand. They are able to:
· master the art of articulating their qualifications, breadth of experience, expertise and talents and they have built over their career;
· influence and understand how their character, substance and style motivates, inspires and brings others on board; and
· be guided by what excites and inspires them.
What do my clients achieve? Recognition of their value. My clients get the courage to have conversations that were previously difficult. They feel comfortable and confident and understand how to ask for new job roles and pay increases. There is a sense of empowerment. They are confident walking into any room or communicate online. It’s knowing that the decisions they make, the people they work with and the way they engage with people is always guided buy their personal brand. It’s also knowing that they’ll be able to face any situation, whether it’s public speaking, a Zoom call, a client facing meeting, or a difficult work conflicts.
When you have a personal brand that truly reflects who you are, you have a roadmap for success.
