Why bother with Alignment?

Be honest…how often do you get a wheel alignment? Do you just do it when you buy a new set of tires? Do you ignore your mechanic when he suggests that it’s about time for you to rotate your tires and align your wheels? Most of us know we should get a wheel alignment from time to time, but we really don’t know why.
Much the same as having your wheels in alignment, here are a few benefits to living a life in alignment, leading an aligned team and building a business in alignment...
1. Increased fuel efficiency - you, your team and/or your business work a lot harder to propel yourself forward when are out of alignment which reduces efficiency. TIP: notice how often you need to fuel up, are you getting the mileage from each tank?
2. Reduce expensive repairs - living, leading and driving with a bad alignment causes the parts in your life, team and/or business to wear unevenly and prematurely. Each time you hit a pothole or bump in the road, your steering and suspension systems take a hit. When you, your team and/or business aren't evenly helping with the impact, certain areas of these systems take the hit harder than others, causing them to break down sooner than they should. If they break down completely, you’re face with an expensive repair service that could have been avoided.
3. Experience Smoother Driving - When your alignment is off you will usually notice that you, your team and/or your business drifts slightly to the right or left even though you're aimed straight ahead. Constantly adjusting your steering to overcompensate for bad alignment is tiring, inefficient, distracting and dangerous!
4. Improve Vehicle Safety - Proper maintenance helps everything to run better and keeps you from running into unexpected issues that could leave you stranded at crux time. Don’t put off getting yourself, your team and/or your business aligned until it’s too late.
5. Increase the Life of Your "Tires" - Last but not least, your "tires". Your tires are an expensive and important auto part that wear our much more quickly when you don’t get regular wheel alignments. When you align your tires, and they are working together in harmony, they will take you a lot further and you won’t have to buy new tires sooner than you need to.
How do you align yourself, your team and/or your business? Are you overdue?

5 年There is another alignment that rarely gets spoken about but is the backbone of every leader; congruence. Aligning what you speak with what you do. Can they say about you, 'He does what he says!'

5 年Love the analogy and reference to Auto Tarryn! Traditionally I would get a wheel alignment after hitting a curb and feeling the vehicle start to pull me off track until I learned the value of saving wear and tear on my tyres by getting more regular wheel alignments, and it is so true that we can take the same proactive approach for our businesses.?
