Often I am asked what to book for a corporate or private event such as a wedding, anniversary or key milestone like a 50th birthday party. Most often people book a traditional event with a hall or a room from a hotel or conference space. All too often what is provided is a charcuterie board, cheeseboard, buffet, plated dinner, food stations and/or canopies to be passed, along with either a cash or host bar.
The problem with this model is it does not provide for true interactivity between those hired for the event and those in attendance. Adding a wine, spirits and/or beer station serviced by a professional sommelier provides this interactivity in a very fun and creative way. Clients are definitely getting far more educated with what they're drinking now and are demanding more as far as the service model is concerned. Add a fun and informative educational seminar into the history, styles and how various alcoholic beverages pair with the food provided and you have a far more memorable event that people will want to attend in the future. In the case of an annual party that you host or a corporate event with key stakeholders, potential purchasers or investors, the more memorable the event the far greater positive impact it will have.
I have personally witnessed this with the various events I have been asked to host and present at. Clients leave with a lasting impression that will have them coming back to any future event you wish to book. A great investment is certainly one that produces far greater returns then the capital required to make it happen. Isn't this the goal anyone organizing an event wants to achieve in the first place?

5 年Rob Statham - FWS?, WSET?, Prud'homme Beer Sommelier?. I love this topic. I used to consume, at times, large amount of wines myself. Israel ???? has few good brands to offer which stand in the first line with other international brands. One of the few things I am proud and cherish in our culture. Why should your restaurant have a sommelier? The answer is quite simple. When you have somebody acting as an authoritative figure, people will listen to them. A sommelier undergoes intensive training and guests trust them. Not only does even having a sommelier raise the perception of your event, but helps upselling an attendees on a higher quality wine is easier when the suggestion is coming from a specialist. The end user experience is miraculous. Thanks for sharing.
