Why a Bigger Exhaust Fan Won’t Solve Your Bathroom Humidity & Odor Problem?

I was asked: "There is an exhaust fan installed in a bathroom, but the humidity level isn't going down. Do we need to install a larger fan?"

Increasing the fan's airflow is not the solution. In this case, a proper route for air to enter and exit is required for the exhaust fan to function properly. This problem is usually solved by providing louvers or door undercuts in bathrooms and toilets. Actually, without this air path, the airflow gets obstructed. Therefore, instead of expelling humid air and odor, the fan ends up recirculating the same surrounding air.

It's essential to ensure there are two key components when designing ventilation or air supply systems: an inlet and an outlet is required that allows the air to flow properly.
