Why the best CEO’s are influencers

Welcome back to the latest issue of “The New Wave” by Popstar Ventures! Today we will cover why the best CEO's are influencers and the profitability behind social media impressions. Social media has become a phenomenon for top CEOs who want to grow their brand and interact with an organic fan base who supports their business.?

With the growing popularity among those like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Tory Burch, Mark Zuckerberg, Marc Cuban, Sam Altman, even financial pioneers Jamie Dimon?and Warren Buffet have an absolute blazing social media presence + fanbase.

Leading CEOS have also begun to take part in the social media rush: gaining brand awareness, receiving customer feedback, and most importantly making sales. 77% of Consumers are more likely to buy from a CEO who is active on social media.

These growing fan phenomenons and interactions with potential customers has seemed to work well in the post internet era. As more “Day in the life” or “Life blogs” rose in popularity in the 2010s & 2020s, product users & buyers are now interested in their CEOs Daily life and company updates.?

Whether this is meme charisma or crucial feedback from users in real time such as AIRBNB CEO, Brian Chesky, who often uses his platform to get instant product feedback from users and implements them into product development efforts.?

Large corporations are also participating in the click economy, generating an abundance of social media impressions. When Analyzing the data from 2024’s Super Bowl Weekend last month: Booking.com, Paramount+,?Dunkin Donuts, Draft Kings, Verizon Wireless, Elf Cosmetics and Doordash saw dramatic increasing in brand awareness + impressions.

Paramount+ managed to get the most impressions during this year's superbowl, exceeding 150,000,000 social media impressions, while other leading companies generated 50M-100M+ brand impressions from viewers.

Draftkings led Superbowl week with over 4,500,000 engagement clicks from viewers on social media platforms. Not only did DraftKings have the most fan engagement on social media, they were also the most active brand to publish content during superbowl week. Based on post volume, Draftkings made roughly 700 social media posts throughout the week. ?

When calculating social media presence it’s no surprise that some of the most successful brands and CEOs today are often referred to as influencers in their respective industries. If you are active on social media on the startup community, You can often see small snippets of Sam Altman, Garry Tan, Elon Musk and Jensen Huang on video projecting their thoughts on startup founders, AI, and how the human experience will be in 10 years.?

Influencer marketing campaigns are not always promoting products, in many instances, influencers leave negative reviews on a brand or company, which can also have a deteriorating outcome for a business. Earlier this month, we saw tech influencer?Marques Brownlee call Fisker’s EV “ The worst car he ever reviewed”. Allegedly, Brownlee’s video picked up over 4M views, and in the month following? Brownlee's live review of FSR, the stock is down 50%.??

This shows that influencers can not only be a growth tool but their displeasure for a particular good or service, can have a powerful negative impact on the company.?

Final Thoughts

The best companies, are still welcoming influencers with their best foot forward, offering premium top of the line products and services to users. Last month, we saw Open AI CEO' Sam Altman grant access to creators to use his latest OpenAI product rollout.

The Best CEOs realize that creators are often times product users, fans, and the biggest word of mouth outlet to promote your product organically. Buyers want real experiences and real feedback from those they consider experts in their respective industry.
