Why Being on LinkedIn on a Saturday Feels Like a Cry for Help

Ah, LinkedIn on a Saturday. The digital wasteland where motivation goes to die and corporate buzzwords fester like that forgotten Tupperware in the office fridge. If you’ve found yourself here, congratulations—you’ve officially reached a level of professional loneliness that even your HR department would be concerned about.
Let’s be honest, what are you hoping to find? A life-changing TED Talk on synergy? A recruiter peddling a job opportunity that somehow pays less but requires 'entrepreneurial spirit'? Or maybe, just maybe, a CEO staring dramatically into the abyss, captioned with some deep philosophical nonsense like, 'Failure isn’t falling down; it’s staying down. #Leadership #RiseAndGrind.'
Buddy, it’s Saturday. You shouldn’t be rising, and you definitely shouldn’t be grinding.
The real world is out there, teeming with better choices. Tacos. Naps. Aimless wandering through Target. And yet, here you are, doomscrolling through a sea of performative productivity posts and weirdly aggressive humblebrags.
Look, I get it. Maybe you’re an entrepreneur, a freelancer, or just someone who made the fatal mistake of checking one email and got sucked into the black hole of 'quick questions.' It happens. But LinkedIn on a Saturday isn’t the same as LinkedIn on a Monday. It’s weirder, emptier, like a networking event where the only attendees are you and a guy named Chad who wants to sell you a life-changing course in passive income.
So, do yourself a favor. Close the app. Go outside. Breathe air that hasn’t been filtered through the fluorescent hum of capitalism. Order something irresponsibly expensive just because. Monday will still be here, complete with all the corporate jargon your heart desires. But today? Today is for you.
And whatever you do, for the love of overpriced lattes, don’t post about it on LinkedIn.
P.S. The irony of me writing and posting this on a Saturday is not lost on me. But let’s just call it an act of public service and never speak of it again.
