Why being "a hard-working person"? leads to exhaustion and burnout?

Why being "a hard-working person" leads to exhaustion and burnout?

Are you a “hard-working” person?

For years I believed in being a hard-working person and I was so PROUD of working hard.

And I worked hard. And shared with others HOW hard I worked.

Until I realised that the HARDER I worked - the HARDER I HAD to work.

It was so EXHAUSTING! I was so proud and yet so TIRED!

It was a bizarre and never-ending cycle with no logic: you would imagine that you work hard once and then your life gets easy

The truth is - that way of describing your life is your TRAINED behaviour and thinking.

You don’t have to be a “hard-working person” to succeed and achieve in life. And no, I don’t mean right now sitting on the couch and only visualising everything coming to you.

I am inviting you to WATCH, HEAR and FEEL your language.

It doesn’t have to be “hard work”, it can be...

I work with pleasure...

OR

I play with my passion...

OR

I do what I love with pleasure!

OR...come up with your own new story!

I know and understand it’s challenging to observe your own language and you might think - there is nothing wrong with the way you express yourself.

Well... then just sit back at your chair, relax, ask yourself the following questions and observe what happens inside of you. Let your heart answer for you, not your head:

Am I living my life the way I always wanted?

Do I feel at ease?

Do I feel happy?

Do I look happy?

Do I feel satisfied with the way I work?

Do I really look forward to coming back to my work on Monday...

If you answered YES to all of them - GREAT JOB!

But if the answers were "no" - it's time to change your thinking pattern!

And by the way... if you still work through weekends or on your days off and don’t take some time to rest, for your self-love then you definitely need to check your self talk!

Many of my clients never thought they have negative and/or self-sabotaging self-talk. And that’s because those stories “live” in the blind spot.

That’s why working with a coach will be life-changing for you: I can help you to discover, challenge and replace your old patterns with fresh, supportive and motivational stories!

Just think... if you carry on as you did so far... where will you be in 5 years?

You better start your progress now rather than saying to yourself “why I didn’t do it earlier?!?!?!?” in the future...

Can you do it yourself? Sure you can. Just like you can learn how to drive from YouTube and books. You got the point.

Reach out to me and let’s take you to the easy and playful way of living and thinking!

A little disclaimer here: I won't be telling you what you would love to hear. You will hear what you NEED to hear. Yes, I will be pushing your boundaries and getting you out of your comfort zone. That's what I am there for, not "just for a chat". You are welcome to have "a catch-up chat" with your friend.

What can a person do to stop working like that? How do they learn how to enjoy a life outside of work? Like a workaholic. I'm asking for a friend.

It’s all about mindset… "Find the work you love and relentlessly pursue it. People say you have to have a lot of passion for what you’re doing and it’s totally true. And the reason is because it’s so hard that if you don’t, any rational person would give up. It’s really hard. And you have to do it over a sustained period of time. So if you don’t love it, if you’re not having fun doing it, you don’t really love it, you’re going to give up. And that’s what happens to most people, actually. If you really look at the ones that ended up, you know, being “successful” in the eyes of society and the ones that didn’t, oftentimes, it’s the ones [who] were successful loved what they did so they could persevere, you know, when it got really tough. And the ones that didn’t love it quit because they’re sane, right? Who would want to put up with this stuff if you don’t love it?" —Steve Jobs, Founder, Apple

I think that there is applying yourself in your working hours. Sometimes that working hard thing is satisfying. However I do agree with you Olga Geidane that self talk is key to a balance. There is the idea of rewarding yourself with a job well done and that all important time to stop and stare.
