Well first of all why not? If you should pick one social media channel that really would add some value I would say pick LinkedIn? If not active, I would recommend you to start welcoming 2018 and embrace it to the fullest. To not be active today on social media is to say I′m disconnecting myself from my surroundings and the world outside. Many politicians, company executives and more are active today in different channels, so if they can of course you can. It usually ends up with prioritizations about how and what you should spend your 24 yours on. Spending some time on social media and becoming an influencer will give you so much more in return, so it is well spent time.
Some basics to kick off your journey towards becoming an influencer
Being active on LinkedIn is so much more than just giving and receiving some likes. Being active on LinkedIn will (if you’re really put some effort into it) broaden your knowledge and build a stronger network that in the end will add value to yourself (knowledge wise, new challenges, business e.g.). To reach your objectives with LinkedIn you need to do some basic things:
1. Set some clear objectives for yourself so you know why you should be on the platform.
2. Make sure to be active and see your time on LinkedIn as something fun and valuable.
3. Connect your objective with a theme or topic that you focus on when communicating.
4. Set up your profile to make it complete.
5. Follow up on your activity.
6. Connect with new persons continuously and make a personalized invitee.
7. Find the opportunity on a daily basis to do a post.
8. Share your knowledge through an article and invitee people to comment and like it.
9. Set some KPI for yourself to make sure you stick to your plan.
10. Don′t just interact on LinkedIn, take your connection one step further and connect in real life to share and receive knowledge.
11. Be relevant for your connections, be unique and be yourself. Otherwise the algorithm will kick you to the curb.
