The WHY behind a presentation

Whether you’re delivering a speech at a Toastmasters club, a format presentation at work or speaking impromptu at a farewell dinner; starting with why is key. A presentation can have one or more of 4 purposes.

  1. Sharing information - increase awareness
  2. Persuading the audience - call to action?
  3. Inspiring the audience - instilling confidence
  4. Entertaining - adding humor to your presentation

Knowing your WHY gives you a strong thread for stringing pearls of information on your slides & oral presentations. In some instances, you might consider multiple purposes; for example sharing information while? entertaining the audience.?

Find your why before it finds you on the D-day of presentation.
