The "Why" Before the "What"

When people hear about productivity, they are very quick to look for what to do and actions to take. But they miss out on the first and most important thing: the mindset behind it.
Every productive person is a purposeful person. There is always a “why” behind the “how” and “what”.
What is your reason for wanting to do the things you are doing?
Identifying this is actually the most important thing to do. Without a good reason to act, you would keep getting wound up in activity, and quickly run out of gas.
Placing a sense of value on each activity that takes a place on your timetable pushes you to actually get it done. Because you value it, you are more likely to have a sense of urgency to it.

Your regard for the activity will influence your response when the notification for it pops up.
For example: Your sense of urgency is higher when you have a flight to catch, an interview, or an impending deadline for an assignment, as compared to something more mundane like doing the dishes.
This response is primarily because you value these things more. I mean, no one wants to miss their flight or face the music with a lecturer when the assignment is not turned in.
So, as a first step, take some time out today to identify your why.
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be addressing the mindset behind productivity and will be sharing tips on how to get your head in the right place.
Let me know in the comments, does this make sense to you? Did this help?
Alright then. Do take care. Till next week!

1 年Nice one, Presh! Understanding the "why" behind a particular task helps you see its value. The stronger the "why", the more important the task feels. When you combine this sense of importance with knowing how urgent each task is, it becomes easier to prioritize effectively. Recognizing the importance of the "why" is really key to boosting productivity! Thanks for sharing Presh! ??
Interesting read, nice one Precious
