Why a BAD economy is GREAT news for software developers

The world economy slowing down, and it’s going to slow even more.
I mean, just when the whole virus thing was going away...
Inflation and layoffs are all around us.
As weird as it sounds, this can be a GOOD thing for software developers.?This doesn’t mean we will profit from other’s people misfortunes.
So let me clarify how this change of tides can be great for developers that are prepared:
1. CLEARING THE NOISE
I started writing code almost a decade ago (feeling so old writing this). Part of the generation after the ‘08 crash, I witness the IT exodus firsthand. Thousands of people looking for opportunities started to get into tech. It was one of the few growing sectors back then, and the same holds true today.
As with any growing sector, it attracts lots of people that are willing to make a quick buck. People that are more interested in cashing in than actually becoming good at writing code.
Look, you should always be getting paid fairly for your work and earning as much as possible, but if that is your only motivator, you will have a hard time in this industry.
So what happens when things start to slow down:
Bad developers will get driven out of the sector.
They don’t have solid technical foundations, and they are still employed because they haven’t faced a bad economic situation.
This is a pity for them but GOOD FOR YOU because if you have the skills and the tools, you can not only survive this phase …but you can also thrive, given that companies need effective coders more than ever (they can’t afford to waste money on people that don’t deliver).
This is precisely what we teach you in our Sofware Mastery Mentorship. Enrollment has opened for August, only taking 5 new people on board, so if you are still thinking about it, you better act now. Apply here to see if you qualify.

2. HUGE DEMAND FOR DEVELOPERS LIKE YOU
As I said - my main purpose is ( and has been ever since the last 2 years) helping software developers excel at their craft and earn more.
When the economy gets weird, companies get kicked in the butt (for lack of a better word) and start realizing they desperately need people who can help them get sh**t done.
So if you are interested and you want to get paid well for your skills, you already have a huge opportunity in front of you because the demand for expert developers is so incredibly high.
This will never change.
It is only to get even higher because companies that were doing fine are now doing not so fine, and they are extremely interested in your help.
Again - I’m telling you this from experience.
So if you can actually write quality code, design technical solutions, and basically solve problems, when it comes to salary negotiations, you will be the one naming the price.
Software Mastery will empower you to do just that.
(By the way - being an expert developer, a true Senior, is not about a specific technology, a particular framework, design pattern, or any skills that can be easily duplicated, everyone would be a senior if that was true. It is about transferable skills. So always avoid the shiny stuff in favor of tested principles. Trust me on this one.)
Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum between “good coder” or “experienced developer looking to be unstoppable,” Software Mastery will help you.
But only if you apply.
Take care,
Dragos
