Why Australian Property Developers Need Stay Clear of the NBN

I'm sure the Australian internet fiasco comes as no news to most people. We've all been following the Ookla Speedtest Global Index, where Australia ranks behind Kazakhstan and Cape Verde, with an average download speed of 35.11 Mbps, well below the global average 57.91 Mbps.

This article is not written as another sledge article towards the failings of the NBN, instead, it's a short snippet into why property developers need to seriously consider alternative solutions for their residents.

Some Clarity Into Current Internet Usage

1. Devices

There are on average 2.7 people in each home and according to Google, the average Australian is now connected to the web across 3.9 devices.

This equates to over 10 connected devices in each home that require constant internet access. If you consider that streaming one 4k Ultra HD movie requires 25 Mbps, then meager 100Mbps (max speed available with the NBN) isn't going to have the capacity to service all the other connected devices in the home such as smartphones, smartwatches, laptops, and ipads.

2. Working From Home

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, almost a third (3.5 million) of all employed persons regularly work from home in their main job or business, you can only imagine the frustrations of moving into your brand new luxury $1m+ apartment and not having enough capacity to service your family devices let alone try to connect to your company LAN network during peak times.

On top of this, we can only imagine the amounting frustrations as people are fast adopting other data-reliant smart home technologies such as voice-controlled lights, air-conditioning units fridges, TV’s etc...

Is a Reliable Internet Connection Important to Home Buyers?

The Ethical Kollektiv recently surveyed prospective home buyers in Melbourne. The prospective buyers were asked if a strong and reliable internet connection is an important factor to consider when buying or renting a home, overwhelmingly 95% responded YES.

What is The Solution?

Our partners Gtelecom has been around since 1999 and are classified as a "carrier-grade" telco company. Since then have developed a solid industry reputation in designing, developing and deploying network infrastructure for top tier clients within military, government and major commercial projects.

We understand that in 2018 NBNco left quite a few developers unhappy due to jobs not being signed off in time, over 80,000 missed appointments and a product that is far inferior to that of other providers.

On the back of this, The Ethical Kollektiv has partnered with Gtelecom and decided make a new premium product available to all commercial and residential developers across Australia at very competitive rates.

What does this mean?

When choosing to go with Gtelecom we design a unique fibre network for the project that will provide you with a uncontended and super-fast connection to each home or business within that network (speeds up to 10,000 Mbps).
