Why Artisan People will NOT be using AI in its recruitment process

Don’t get us wrong, we’re not against technology and are more than happy to develop a symbiotic relationship with it that makes us more effective. But even though the world has evolved so much, people will always be at the heart of our business and we will never replace humans with technology.
While AI has been embraced by the recruitment industry in recent years, employers are beginning to realise it’s not as great as they first thought. Studies have shown that AI screening processes are actually passing over really good candidates, principally because they lack the human touch. A human recruiter is looking for passion, personality and dynamism, qualities that AI simply cannot recognise.
We know from our own experience that a person’s attitude and passion are far more important than skills, qualifications and experience, and that’s not something that AI can be programmed with. And the more experienced a human recruiter becomes, the more they can rely on their gut instinct about people - again, something a program will never be able to do.

Recruitment is all about emotions
Artisan People is not only renowned for providing candidates who understand the need for? service excellence and are willing and capable enough to deliver it. AI simply doesn’t understand the concept. It has no emotions, no concept of what it feels like to be treated well or treated badly, so how can it be expected to provide a shortlist of people who are going to be customer service superstars?
In an interview two years ago, one of our Founder Directors Jo Ashworth pointed out there have been instances of AI discriminating against candidates and while there are some business sectors where AI might be useful in the selection process, in the luxury retail and visitor attraction sectors we specialise in, AI cannot take the place of the human touch. “We’re putting out a lot of temporary staff in a lot of areas. The human touch is absolutely essential.”
So while Artisan People is evolving alongside technology, technology alone is never 100% effective. When you’re striving for service excellence, the human touch is the only thing that counts.
