Why Articles Are Not Content
The LinkedIn equivalent of peer pressure is suggesting others "Create content." Someone makes a video about the importance of videos in the hopes that someone else will make a video. You're all alone in your house so get over yourselves.
Is there anything lonelier than seeing those Zoom meetings with a group of twenty people in their homes creating the illusion they are "Together?" It looks like Hollywood Squares if it were a death panel. Speaking of death- no one mentions how you can expand reach by writing articles.
Evidently it is not cool to cultivate ideas. Writing is what I like. Many have admitted they don't read articles. I'm not connected to them. There is no reach whatsoever. So why do I continue?
Testament. Some have suggested I switch to posts. Those fall away, are harder to find and even those are ignored. I posted an article on Shoah for Holocaust Remembrance Day. The most difficult and important documentary ever made was ignored.
"Never forget". Because of the Holocaust I am ineligible for Humans First. No one knows that group nor how I have been alienated by various members. Don't worry about it. I stand alone. At some point? I shall die alone. That really scares married women.
You coupled with someone else so don't tell me how great it is to have a relationship. That's like telling an unemployed person how easy it is to find a job. The last year would have sucked if I did not have work.
Where do I go in times of unemployment? The library. It is not properly opened. If I were to use it online? That's like talking to a cam girl. Might make you feel better. Won't get you anywhere ultimately.
I enjoy writing articles. While some have an end in sight? I shall write indefinitely. I shall live indefinitely. Don't know the day or hour so keep going. The ones who blather about "Content" take the fun out of creativity. If you are trying to sell a product? That's one thing. If there is a continuing trajectory? This might end up in a meme someday. I am not so uppity as to quote myself. Anyone is welcome to quote me. There is a first time for everything.
Writing is like "Making Love." Creating content is the F word.
While you are doing the same thing? The approach and motivation is different. What do I know? The algorithm ignores me unless I use hashtags. Then I am doubly ignored. 2 x 0=0. Why do I write? A legacy.
I started a journal as a reaction to time wasted with psychiatrists. No matter how many different doctors I was sent to? They were all the same: I talked, they waited for me to finish and ignored my statements to push their own agendas. Never again. I can write and it benefits my memory.
Which leads to better conversations. There is a site where people are amazed they can have conversations. That is not a selling point- I have conversations all the time. Does it matter? Does anyone recall them? I wouldn't know.
Communicate effectively. Don't think your words will be seen by a Hollywood producer who wants to green light your life story. That is not how the world works. Write like no one is watching because they are not. It benefits you and that's all that matters.

4 年Thomas, I have alway loved your randomness in your writing. It is usually just thrown in a sentence here and there. But I love this “post” / “article” because the whole thing is random. Love it!
