Why America Needs MAMA: The Fight to Save Our Youth Through Music and the Arts

Introduction: A Nation at a Crossroads

America is facing a crisis among its youth. We see it every day—in rising crime rates, drug addiction, depression, and a lack of direction. Billions of dollars have been spent on programs to combat these issues, yet they continue to worsen. Instead of investing in solutions that truly work, we’ve wasted resources on band-aid policies that fail to address the root cause—a lack of purpose, structure, and positive outlets for young people.

This is why I am launching MAMA – Make America Musical Again, an initiative dedicated to restoring music, theatre, dance, and all forms of performing arts to our schools and communities. The arts are not just entertainment; they are a proven solution to keeping kids engaged, disciplined, and out of trouble.

I have already reached out to President Donald Trump and his team about this initiative, because I believe we need real leadership to make this a reality. It’s time to stop wasting money on ineffective programs and start investing in the arts as a pathway to success, discipline, and personal growth.

The Current Approach is Failing Our Youth

For decades, America has poured billions into programs designed to keep young people off drugs, out of gangs, and away from crime. These programs, while well-intended, have largely failed. Why?

?? Reactive Instead of Proactive – Most policies focus on treating the symptoms (prison reform, rehab programs, policing) rather than preventing the problem in the first place.

?? Wasted Spending – Billions have been allocated to anti-drug campaigns, juvenile detention centers, and mental health programs, yet addiction, crime, and youth incarceration rates continue to rise.

?? Lack of Purpose for Young People – When kids don’t have something meaningful to focus on, they will find something else—whether that’s gangs, drugs, or reckless behavior.

The truth is simple: we don’t have a crime problem, we have an engagement problem. Kids need something positive to devote themselves to, something that excites them and gives them a sense of purpose.

Why MAMA Works: The Arts as the Answer

Unlike failed government programs, the arts have a proven track record of success in keeping kids engaged and helping them develop critical life skills.

?? The Arts Teach Discipline – Learning an instrument, acting in a play, or mastering a dance routine requires focus, effort, and persistence. These are the same skills that create successful entrepreneurs, leaders, and responsible citizens.

?? Music Strengthens Communities – Schools with strong arts programs have higher graduation rates, lower dropout rates, and fewer disciplinary issues. When kids have a sense of community, they don’t look elsewhere for belonging.

?? Arts Education Boosts Academic Performance – Numerous studies show that students involved in music and the arts score higher on standardized tests, are more likely to attend college, and develop stronger problem-solving skills.

?? The Arts Are a Career Path – Music, film, theater, and digital arts are multi-billion-dollar industries. Yet, we are stripping these opportunities from kids instead of preparing them for careers in one of America’s biggest economic sectors.

The solution isn’t more prisons, more rehab centers, or more failed programs. The solution is preventing the problem before it starts by giving young people something to aspire to.

My Commitment to Launching MAMA with President Trump

I am ready to work with President Trump and his administration to implement MAMA nationwide. I believe that with his leadership, we can fund and rebuild arts education, restore discipline and opportunity for our youth, and stop the cycle of wasted government spending.

We don’t need another government handout—we need real investment in our children’s future.

? Reintroducing music, theater, and dance into schools ? Building community arts centers across the country ? Creating mentorship programs for young artists ? Providing real career pathways in the entertainment industry

President Trump has always supported hard work, discipline, and innovation—values that align perfectly with MAMA. I am prepared to take this fight to Washington to rebuild our arts programs and bring music back to the heart of America.

The Opposition in Connecticut: The Battle for Change

I have faced tremendous opposition in my home state of Connecticut. Instead of embracing a program that empowers young people, many in local leadership ignore or reject these ideas. Why? Because they are stuck in a system that rewards failure.

?? Bureaucracy over Solutions – Too many politicians are more interested in protecting government contracts and wasteful programs than actually fixing the problem.

?? Resistance to Conservative Voices in the Arts – As a Republican in the arts world, I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it is to get support for ideas that don’t align with the status quo.

?? Lack of Leadership – Instead of investing in the arts as a solution to crime and youth disengagement, Connecticut continues to pour money into failing social programs.

Despite this opposition, I refuse to be silent. The battle to restore the arts in America is just beginning, and I am ready to take this fight national.

The Time is Now: Rebuilding America Through Music

This is not just about music—it’s about saving a generation.

We are at a turning point in our nation’s history. We can either continue down a path of wasted spending, crime, and lost potential—or we can take action.

I am calling on parents, educators, politicians, and faith leaders to join me in supporting MAMA. We must restore music, dance, theatre, and all forms of the arts to our children’s lives.

I am committed to making this happen. With the right leadership, the right vision, and the right investment, we can Make America Musical Again. ??

It’s time to rebuild. It’s time to take action. It’s time to Make America Musical Again.
