Why Am I Trying to Become Certified?

QUICK NOTE: We are going to be having a great discussion with the Certification Master himself, Mr. Yujun Liang!! Register here: https://www.runtheworld.today/app/c/GetCertfied

Well, this is definitely a question I've asked myself before.

Trying to figure out the right path to take, the right certifications, and getting the right resources.

Now, I will say, you shouldn't go after certifications to just have.

You should always have an objective.

Why are you trying to become certified?

Is it because someone told you to?

Or is there a role that you want to go after?

Now, I will say this. Some companies require you to have certain certifications because they have strategic partnerships with that particular vendor, so in order to maintain that partnership, they may need to maintain a certain number of certified staff.

So just be wary of that. Not saying it's a bad thing but understand what does it mean for you!

So understand that you want to get certified to learn more about the vendor, not actually just showcase that you are certified.

Believe me, in some interviews they may even ask you questions that scenarios were based on the certification itself especially if they require it if I make sense.

But I know, with hard work and passing you will feel like Jordan hitting a game-winning shot. However, just make sure just like Jordan, you have all the hands-on practice. For him, it wasn't sheer luck, it was preparation.

I wanted to give you guys a piece of my mind this morning in a small little article! I hope you can relate.

Takeaways

  • Understanding Why you want to become certified
  • Make sure you are actually learning instead of just trying to power through
  • Prepare to understand how to solve problems through that particular certification knowledge.

Yes, I know, still stuck?

To be certified means having a strong fundamental understanding of a set of skills; however, it is no way a replacement of real-world hands-on experience. When studying for certifications it is important to think through real-world problems and see where your new found skills can be applicable; even better try to think through exception scenarios / non-ideal situations in which you will have to apply your skills as 80% of the time as professionals we spend time dealing with such exceptions / non-ideal scenarios and are expected to define them clearly and resolve.
