Why Almost No Professional Resume Writers Create ATS Friendly Resumes

And it's not just professional resume writers ... most career coaches and outplacement firms don't create ATS friendly resumes either.
If you've been told that the resume you paid for is "Applicant Tracking System Compliant", that means that it works with one Applicant Tracking System.
But there are hundreds of different Applicant Tracking Systems (resume pre-screening databases), and dozens of versions of each one. Each ATS and version handles the formatting choices on your resume differently.
In addition, most professional resume writers, career coaches and outplacement firms want to brand themselves to job seekers as creating visually memorable resumes. If that means your resume gets screened out more often, they figure you'll never know, but you will think that the way your resume looks will get noticed by employers. You'll think you're buying something "special".
When you apply for jobs that don't require graphic design skills, all that formatting does is get your resume screened out more often. For these types of jobs, employers decide whether to give you an interview, advance you in the process, or give you an offer based on your resume's content, not its design. "Fancy" design just takes an employers attention away from what they value ... your content.
Even the file format used by most professional resume writers, career coaches and outplacement firms are likely to get your resume screened out from job opportunities.
