Why Ajji matters!
Suhas Joshi and Abhay Verma in Munjya

Why Ajji matters!

In the realm of storytelling, it's often the characters who leave a lasting impression on the audience. "Munjya," a film that has captivated viewers with its blend of comedy and horror, is no exception. Among its diverse cast, Ajji's character stands out as a pivotal figure, whose importance eclipses even that of the protagonist, Bittu.

Ajji, the grandmother played by the veteran actress Suhas Joshi, is the heart of the narrative, connecting the past to the present. Her character is the key to unraveling the mystery of Munjya, the malevolent spirit haunting the protagonist.

What makes Ajji's portrayal so compelling is the depth of her character. She embodies the wisdom and resilience that come with age, and her fierce protectiveness adds layers to the story that resonate with viewers. Her character is etched well because she represents a bridge between the modern world and the folklore that enriches the film's backdrop. Ajji is the storyteller, the protector, and the warrior, all rolled into one.

For me, performance of Suhas Joshiji playing Ajji brings authenticity and gravitas to the role, making her the most memorable character in "Munjya.
Her portrayal is nuanced, reflecting the complexities of a woman who has lived through loss and hardship, yet stands as the matriarchal pillar of strength compare this to all the characters in the film and you will find their characterization hollow.
