Why A.I. is too important to ignore. Do not wait until it is too late.
"A.I. is not going to replace humans, humans with A.I. will replace humans that don’t use A.I." - predicts Emad Mostaque - CEO of?stability.ai?creator of?Stable Diffusion.
A.I. being made open/public to the layperson is probably the most significant development & idea of our time: 2023.
At the beginning of the year - Issue 40 - AI just became very real. Don't let this breakthrough idea pass YOU by. - we highlighted an insightful podcast interview by Peter Diamandis with Emad Mostaque.
By June 2023 - Issue 48 - A.I. - an ABUNDANCE of IDEAS ..don't let A.I. pass YOU by (part 2) - we dissected a thought-provoking interview by?Tom Bilyeu?(3.53M subscribers) of?Impact Theory?with?Peter Diamandis?&?Salim Ismail.
In this Issue 54, we highlight Tom Bilyeu hosting Emad Mostaque in another must-listen interview. Whilst some extracts are provided below, it is highly recommended that you view and listen to the entire interview:
Extracts:
Emad Mostaque: 03:00 – 'Everything will be affected.. from basic programming massively, knowledge work, to heavy industry. Two areas it will affect the most -?health care & education.'
Tom Bilyeu: 03:58 – ‘What we do is education & content creation. We can already clone my voice. We have already created a TOMbot that will answer questions (I have answered before) in a similar fashion to the way I would answer them. In our video game flow, we’re already making 3D objects. When I looked at this (A.I.) 2 months ago, I thought it was 12 months to 18 months away.. 45 days later we’re using it actively in our pipeline! You’ve got text-to-video (still a little awkward) but it’s getting better insanely fast. We do all of our concept art in A.I. We’re already deploying A.I. like crazy.. learning as we go.'
Tom Bilyeu: 05:00 - ‘I don’t need to hire more people, I just need to make my people more efficient’.
Emad Mostaque: 05:30 – ‘Anything you can do in front of a computer, the bar becomes higher. A.I. is not going to replace humans, humans with A.I. will replace humans that don’t use A.I.'
Tom Bilyeu: 07:20 – 'Most people are burying their heads into the sand. They’re not paying attention to this, and they’re going to wait until someone forces their hand, and by then it is too late.'
Tom Bilyeu: 08:08 - ‘When I think about film-making, which I’m very experienced in.. now 50 people become 1. When you get certain areas that go from 50 to 1 employees disruption ratios.. you said “..there will be no programmers” ..that’s going to steamroll through society. That is just going to mow people over.’
Tom Bilyeu: 09:01 – ‘I give them 12 months. Even in my own company, if you’re not actively trying to find a way to integrate it into your job function, I’m already looking at you sideways. A year from now, if you are not really good at either, documenting how it is completely useless in your job function, or showing how you are using it, we will find somebody who can do it. I’ll be shocked if a year from now if we don’t have a Head of A.I. Three years from now this will create a crisis of meaning for a whole lot of people.’
Emad Mostaque: 10:40 – ‘I think that this is an economic disruption that is far bigger than Covid.’
A fascinating discussion ensues on fragmenting of film and music industries, about cream rising to the top, and about the human mind being a 'prediction machine' that will be disrupted by A.I. as a 'pattern recognition machine' that can recognize, predict and create great ideas to meet future demand. Creativity becomes ubiquitous.
Emad Mostaque: 'A.I. is a "knowledge filter".' EM: ‘We have figured out how to make intelligent humans scale.’ E.M.: 35:00 - ‘This will cause a crisis of confidence for many’. T.B. 47:00 – Paints a picture of a bleak future for many.
Emad Mostaque: 50:03 – ‘NetPalm 2 A.I. scores higher than humans on clinical diagnosis’.
Discussion on SEXbots – E.M.: ‘..my child’s first crush is going to be an A.I.’
TB: 55:16 –‘ You said earlier “..there is opportunity in every crisis”, and I will say that the biggest opportunities come in moments of disruption.’
Further fascinating background and insight into the development of A.I. through Emad Mostaque’s experience.
Emad Mostaque: 1:14:00 – ‘A book is a compression of information. (my interpretation - A.I. filters myriads of books into compression/s of principles).’
Emad Mostaque: 1:26:00 – ‘Our Mission: To create the building blocks to activate humanity’s potential’.
Emad Mostaque: 1:36:00 – ‘There is such a divergence of things that the only thing that I am sure about is that.. everything is going to change. This is the biggest change that we have ever seen faster than anything, and maybe humanity has ever seen at this pace, that has ever happened, because it is at the core of what makes a human – telling stories – information flow. And that’s change forever.’
Emad Mostaque: 1:37:35 – ‘The hardest question we need to ask, that must be answered, is: “How do we adapt to potential wide-scale job loss”..’
Emad Mostaque: 2:26:16 – ‘We have never seen as easy-to-use technology as this.. it is not just you who can use it, it is your grandma who can use it.. and as easy-to-implement technology.. if you want to create open integration technology into OpenAI’s GPT4, you just write the script (prompt) for the integration and it programs itself – immediately. It’s an immediate technology. It would have taken days before. We have not seen technology before that can be immediately implemented to an existing base as quickly as this can happen. That fundamentally changes society.
Emad Mostaque: 2:29:30 – ‘To be happy you need to do something you’re good at, something that you like, and where you believe you’re measurably adding value.. and the other parties do as well.'
E.M.: 'People don’t want complicated.'
TB: 2:43:30 - 'How does someone future-proof themselves?'
Emad Mostaque: 2:44:00 – ‘They just throw themselves into this area. There are so few people actually doing it that if you go into this area with all your might, and curiosity, and a generally open mind, you can have an affect on the future. Because, everyone in your community will be using it, everyone that you know will be using it. You become a shelling-point. You become the expert in this area, because you’re getting in at the start. Get into it. Get passionate. Focus on the good stuff. Focus on the potential to make real positive change to your pocket, to your community, to your life. Go with a positive mindset.'???
