Why not be adaptable?

Why not be adaptable?

Last week, we outlined the?different types of change response?that need overcoming in order to embrace uncertainty. Today, we’re focusing on how marketing and BD leaders can support different team members through change.

Leaders must acknowledge the various change-averse mindsets and adapt their management style accordingly. For example:

  • Receivers?need clear and open channels of communication. They tend to passively accept change, so without a safe platform to discuss how it will affect them, their voices will go unheard.
  • Resistors?need to be shown the positive side of change. Will the new organisational structure create more opportunities for progression? Once they get used to the new IT system, will it save them time?
  • Controllers?need an emphasis on acceptance. If there are bumps in the road when implementing change, they may see it as a failure on their part rather than a natural step in the process.

In turbulent times, paying attention to how each individual is coping with change will help your team and your firm to keep moving forward.

“Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”
