Why do film/streaming studios have a heighten interest in both your script and a book version of your script? What's in it for writers?

Why film/streaming studios have interest in both your script and a book version of your script: Having both a script and a book version of your script) gives studios 2 sources that makes it easier to create new concepts and content.

  1. Script: Scripts that meet their immediate creative and production needs serves as a quicker path to production. Scripts are formatted and written as the foundation and blueprint for producing a film or series that can be developed, funded, and produce for immediate theatrical and/or broadcast release. ?
  2. Having a published book version of your script: The format and structure of a manuscript offers an expanded version of your storyline, and each character is defined, outlined, and developed. This makes it easier to create new content based on the concept, storyline, and individual characters.

Note: This is why sequels and spin-offs to your original script is easier to write and produce in a shorter amount of time. It is for all of the above reasons; studios have a heighten interest in what they call a "multiple script package."

When submitting your script package to film/streaming studios: having a book version of your script included, shows that it is simultaneously, being promoted directly to a domestic and global public for purchase.

Spielberg, Steven King, Michael Mann, and many other credited and new writers are using Adaptation as a major component of their marketing strategy to promote their new and existing scripts.

A development executive told me that the value behind the script to published book pathway for distribution/streaming is the book provides more in-depth information about the story for multi project opportunities. Build into the book are prequels and sequels. Also because the book is a tried and tested IP. In other words the book has a proven audience that supports the data to validate the script/story.
