Why Accenture?
I've recently made the short move (literally just a few doors up Mark Lane) from my previous company to Accenture and in the past few weeks - especially at Dreamforce 18 - I have been asked one thing more than others:
"What made you go to Accenture?"
So let me try to explain.
Marquee Customers
During one my interviews with an Accenture MD, I rather glibly said that I wanted to be able to talk at dinner parties about projects I'd worked on and have everyone recognise the customers I mentioned. My point wasn't about vanity, or the fact that the brands and logos would be recognisable for the sake of it, but for the scale of challenge that they would bring. Whilst I have worked on Enterprise level global projects, I feel it's a gap that I want to close.
With Accenture, I feel I'm uniquely placed to address this.
Smart People
I once had a team member, an incredibly smart guy, who said that one thing he liked was "not always being the smartest guy in the room". It wasn't arrogance, rather the opposite: to understand and admit that there are always people you can learn from. That is the case for me at Accenture.
During my interview cycle, I spoke with two Technical Architects. One was a fellow Salesforce CTA, and one was outside of the Salesforce space working in other technologies. Even in those short times, they made me smarter; my thinking was more connected; broader and further-reaching; the answers I gave were more considered. I could feel myself getting more informed as every moment passed.
No-one likes being judged by their peers, and certainly not being judged poorly. Having the opportunity day in, day out, to learn but also to demonstrate knowledge, is a privilege that I didn't feel I watch go by.
Leaders with a Plan
I am a self-starter. I have never needed to be lead and consider myself self-sufficient, but will ask for help when I need it.
What I like is Leaders who know what they want to achieve and who have a clear idea of how they are going to do that. It is an easy thing to say 'we will grow our business by 100% in the next three years', but it's something else entirely to have a plan to do this: to talk about customers (both existing and new) and industries where there is opportunity, to have a clear idea of the benefits and challenges that cloud computing can bring, to have a Cloud First organisation!
Given many companies don't have a clear strategy around cloud computing (products OR consulting services), this was a clear differentiator.

These were my key reasons. If any of these resonate with you, Accenture is hiring and we'd love to speak to you if you want to grow and learn in the Salesforce space.
