Why a 15 Min Podcast Hits....
First off, yes I am writing an article to boost our own podcast too, but there are many many reasons we are here to help and give value as well. We are growing on 14 platforms that spread across the globe. Over the past 3 years, I have personally put my own ears through 500+hrs of podcasts covering topics from comedy to science. Now do I personally remember all of it? Of course not! Are you crazy? This is the huge problem.
People are extremely busy, so right now the only source of new information around the world is the media and news. Sadly not much can be stated in a 5 min interview live on a news channel: furthermore, that info is pushed on the viewers by whoever has money behind it. Viewers end up only hearing and seeing what those platforms want them to. This is the trap we are all in. This is also a huge reason for all the confusion and polarization of people just here in the United States. Now on the flipside, if you want to hear from the mouth of some of our leading scientists in the world, odds are when you do find that podcast/ interview its probably 3hrs and boring. Half the time they may not even be talking about what you really want to hear. They could just be shooting the shit with each other. Again these are some common complaints I've experienced and heard by many.
The solution I propose is a short 15-20 minute information segment that highlights the most important speaking points covered in the longform podcast that you couldn't commit the time to. Of course I want everyone to be able to hear the whole long form conversations, but it is a hard task to find the time and there are too many podcasts in the ether.
The rule is you can only remember about 20% of any verbal information just two hours after hearing it...shit that sucks. It's not like when you are listening to a podcast you have your notes out journaling as much of it as you can. Wouldn't you rather remember the good important and juicy stuff that you can use for your own life if you had the choice? Well I can go ahead and tell you that is 1000x easier when it's packed into 15 minutes. This is the niche, and why we do what we do.
