Whose, What, Why & then How - Dall-E

Whose, What, Why !!

In my extensive interactions with founders and professionals, I've noticed a common trend: the rush to address 'how' to solve a problem, often overshadowing the critical 'whose, what, and why'. This approach, while action-oriented, can lead to strategies that are misaligned with the actual needs and goals of the business.

Understanding 'whose problem' we are solving is the cornerstone of any successful venture. It's about identifying the target audience or the customer segment whose needs are not just unmet but are also willing to pay for a solution. This clarity is crucial for directing all subsequent efforts.

Next comes the 'what'. What is the problem that needs solving? This step involves delving deep into the issue at hand, understanding its nuances, and recognizing the gap in the market. A well-defined problem statement sets a solid foundation for developing a solution that is both effective and marketable.

Then there’s the 'why'. Why does this problem need solving? This is about understanding the significance of the problem. Is it a pain point for a large market segment? Does solving it create value? The 'why' drives the purpose and the potential impact of the solution, making it a compelling proposition for both customers and investors.

Only after thoroughly exploring these dimensions should we delve into the 'how' – the strategies, technologies, and actions needed to solve the problem. And equally important is the consideration of financial viability: how will this solution generate revenue without excessive burn?

In conclusion, a strategic shift is needed. Instead of jumping straight into action, a laser focus on researching and defining the 'whose, what, why' can lead to more effective and sustainable solutions. Only then does the 'how', and more crucially, the 'how to make money', become relevant and meaningful.
