You know what they say, someone's trash is another man's treasure. Well did you know this can apply to discarded patents and trademarks? They are worth $800 each and people are scouring the internet to find these treasures.
Companies that innovate, market, trademark, register, and patent products, achieve great brand awareness, sales, and following with the brands and designs they have cultivated over the years. Take a look at your legal, engineering, and #marketing vaults. Is there value in any designs or names that lay dormant?
I know with one company we were trying to come up with the name of an improved product and the product team wanted a cutting edge name. They were not interested in resurrecting a name from the past. Yet when the predecessor product name was Googled it had over one hundred thousand results. So in the end, they went with the original name.
The question is - is there value in a patent that is no longer used? How about a registered name or trademark? Take another look in your vaults before you lose both.
There are treasure hunters out there for your old brand names and patents. Are you going to let them have it for nothing?
