My best friend knocked on my door this evening....... I really didn't have time to speak, but, there she was.
She was stressed, needed to talk and showed up unexpectedly. ??♀?
I couldn’t help but think, I'm so busy at the moment and I have so much to do.? I just don't have the time or the energy to help her right now.
What Are My Options??
None of these seemed like very good options.
How could I do that to my best friend?
What if that just made her feel worse??
She just needs to be heard after all. She needs someone to listen to her and really hear her. She’s showing up, speaking up and asking for help.?
Isn't that what we ask our loved ones to do?
What I Chose?
So I put my work down and decided to go for a walk with her while I listened instead.? ??
I told her it was ok to feel this, to feel it fully, just don't stay there.?
So after listening and being there for her, we decided on some solutions, some people we need to speak with and some action steps.
We agreed that any action step in a positive direction is a good action step.....don't overthink the steps……just take them.?
I let her know I'm there for her, and if she looked or thought about it, so are some pretty quality people.?
She felt heard, visible, important and loved.
I also felt pretty good, I gave my best friend what she needed.
Only thing is.

That best friend was ME!!
Your Best Mate Matters!
Our body is communicating with us all day every day.?
This may be in the form of feelings, of anxiety, headaches, insomnia, aches and pains, fatigue, sadness, feeling stuck, digestive issues, joy, laughter, and the list goes on…..
When we avoid our body and ourselves, we don’t just escape and give ourselves more problems, we ignore our best friend/s….Us and our Body.?
Symptoms Are The Communication
As much as we may find them frustrating, our body communicates with us in a variety of very clever ways, and as much as we may have been taught otherwise, it's time to turn the tide and take a step towards thriving instead of just surviving.
If we shut the door on a symptom, feeling or attempt to get our attention, the knocks will get louder and more frequent.?
If we squash the symptom and lock it away, we will develop a new symptom to grab our attention elsewhere instead.?
You Choose!
The great news is, we get to choose how we want to communicate. We can learn the skills of how to communicate with ourselves and our body and respond in ways that are healthy for us and that suit us, or we can avoid communication and deal with the consequences that come with any important relationship not being a priority, getting put on the back burner, and having poor communication.?
This relationship though, is our most important of all, so choose wisely ??
